Student Leadership

Mathira Technical Student Council

The MTVC Student Council serves as the key link between the college administration and the student body. Operating under constitutional guidelines and mentored by the Dean of Students, the council is responsible for representing student grievances, organizing social activities, running welfare programs, and promoting academic excellence across all departments.

Elections are held annually during the second term of the academic year, giving every registered trainee an opportunity to vote for their executive leaders and department ministers.

Governance & Ministries

The Student Council is structured to cover all aspects of campus life. It is composed of the Executive Committee, Departmental Representatives, and Class Representatives.

Executive Committee

Consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary General, and Treasurer. They oversee council programs, chair meetings, and represent MTVC in national TVET assemblies.

Ministry of Sports & Entertainment

Coordinates college sports leagues, campus tournaments, cultural festivals, video game championships, and talent nights.

Ministry of Trainee Welfare & Health

Addresses dining hall issues, coordinates accommodation lists, runs clean environment campaigns, and supports counselors on health wellness programs.

Ministry of Gender, Special Needs & Cohesion

Elections & Campaign Guidelines

MTVC Student Council elections are governed by democratic guidelines. Trainees interested in contesting must meet criteria supervised by the Electoral Committee and Dean's office:

Electoral Eligibility

Contestants must have completed at least one semester with clean academic records (no failures), zero disciplinary issues, and active fee clearances.

Campaign Code of Conduct

Candidates must run peaceful, issue-based campaigns. Hate speech, bribery, or disruption of training leads to immediate disqualification.

Senate Composition

Each academic class elects two class representatives who form the student senate, which validates budget proposals and tables core resolutions.

Leadership Mentorship & Training

MTVC is committed to building the next generation of societal and corporate leaders. We provide comprehensive training setups for elected council members:

Induction Retreats

A mandatory 3-day leadership training retreat immediately post-election, covering communication, conflict resolution, and public administration skills.

KATTI Conventions

Participation of executive council leaders in Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) national leadership summits.

Community Mentorship Projects

Student council members leading tree planting campaigns, Karatina children's home donation drives, and primary school motivation talks.
